MIX is the first version of the project EVERYBODY GOES TO DISCO FROM MOSCOW TO SAN FRANCISCO which premiered at the 4th Festival Rencontres Internationales Chorégraphiques de Bagnolet in France on June 17th, 1994. MONTAЖ$TROJ won a special award by the international commission at this competition, after which it went on a world tour and project EG2DFM2SF was promoted.
EG2DFM2SF – MIX objectivizes and scrutinizes the mathematical multiplication of violence and its consequence: ultra-violence. MIX was a high-risk dance that hits right into the gut with a bombastic mix of theater, sports, nudity, violence and sex. It dealt with the issue of urban mythology, the relationship between the local experience of post-communism and the global experience of pop culture mediated through the media. Choreography as a geometric kinetic of pulling the trigger! In the first versions of the play, approximately 30 shots were taken from a gun. The physical relations of the performers (three men and two women) were structured according to the principles of montage of attractions. Close and raw encounters, eroticism, brutal contact and physical attraction blurred the borders between the real and the fictional. The hits were real, the kisses passionate and hard, and the performer’s body was torn between its performance and its own real experience.
