The subject of the first work-in-progress version of the project FRAGILE was a Biblical myth in which the persecutor of Christians, Saul, experiences a conversion in his encounter with the one he’s prosecuting, and becomes St. Paul, the founder of the Christian church. MOBILE SECTIONS consisted of dance sequences played by 7 performers from 4 different countries. The Biblical myth combined with the cultural differences, barriers and identities was embodied in the fragility of the human flesh exposed under the beam of light of a single limelight. The physical weakness is a metaphor for the fragility of a human being in general, and especially its identity. The project was realized for the Croatian selection of the 6th Bagnolet Rencontres festival, and was presented in Zagreb and Rotterdam as part of the Dutch Dance Platform festival.
MOBILE SECTIONS
While I traveled thus and came near Damascus, a great light shone around me from heaven at noon. I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me: Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? – I answered: Who are you, Lord?
