On the final evening of the 16th Mediteran film festival (MFF) which took place on August 29th at Široki Brijeg, Borut Šeparović’s documentary CONSUMED won the Audience award. MFF is the oldest documentary film festival in the region. This year’s edition hosted 17 films in the selection, and Borut Šeparović and MONTAЖ$TROJ also got the special recognition of the jury for “simple and striking way of telling a story of the 55+ project, a story about the generation who does not give up”.
The film is about persons over the age of 55, their partaking in an audition and in the process of making a theatre performance and a documentary. They are challenged to tell about the most important minute in their life in as many seconds as their age. They talk about life and death, happiness and pain in a brutally honest way. CONSUMED records the process in which the protagonists become more than just randomly gathered individuals: As a collective, they have to deal with the decades of their own silence and to take the responsibility for the world in ruins they are leaving to the new generations.
